Hard times, and catching up

Hey there y'all, bet all my readers thought I died. Well I haven't, but I have been slackin' again in the updatin' department. It's been a rough few months for me though. This post may be a bit serious, but I got a few stories to keep it lively enough. I'm gunna get the hard stuff out of the way first though.

First, y'all, I'm gettin' old. I mean too old for this job of guide work. I recently celebrated my 9th birthday, and I just am ready to hang up the harness and spend my days sleepin' on a couch and gettin' fed. So that big bad R word all us guide dogs dread, well as you get older, it's not such a bad word anymore. I'm actually lookin' forward to it.

Now for the sad news and I'm gunna be as brief as possible with this cuz you all know me, I don't be gettin' all emotional and junk like that. My brother, and best friend has left us. Winston got lung cancer of all things. Shoot I can't believe it he was so young, too young. Anyway, it's been hard watchin' him go down hill. I had to say goodbye to him just last night. While out workin' today, it just, wasn't the same without him.

In other news, this little queen bee wanna be as I'm now callin' her, is still around. Princess Annie Belle who think she all that and alpha too. Um, hello! No little 5 month old puppy is gunna walk all up in here and be alpha over me I mean it. Her and I been havin' who's in charge wars. Thank goodness I finally put her in her place concerning tryin' to steel food from my bowl. Um, no that ain't happenin'. First of all, I don't get enough as it is in my view, and so her takin' some just ain't happenin'. Second of all, again, I'm alpha. You don't touch the top dog's food. I been tellin' her this for months now. Gettin' more and more stern with her. Finally I had to get a little nasty with her. Hey, I'm sorry but she had to learn the hard way. And you know somethin'? She ain't come near my food since. She is a smart little thing when she wanna be.

I like that other sheltie better though. He comes over sometimes to play with Annie. His name's Yota. Shoot he cute why can't we keep him and give bossy head to Yota's family I mean it.

Well now for the funny story. So my ma and my April went to the mall tonight. For the first while we walked all around the mall, lookin' in stores too. I did the best I could, but y'all, it was not a fun time. Shoot I miss that gullable golden. I mean it we depended on each other and worked together helping each other out. Well anyway, after shopping around we went once again to those dark rooms with a giant TV screen and pop corn. First off I'm like dude it's cold in here! Y'all the heater was broken in there. I mean, I got me a nice fur coat to keep me warm, but it don't work as well when I be layin' on a hard cement floor. Shoot I bout froze to death lyin' there tryin' to sleep. Well as the movie goes on, mom reaches down and grabs her bag of candy and tries to open it. Well she was havin' a fit with this bag. I finally lifted my head to watch cuz it was funny seein' her struggle to open her candy. Then, all the sudden, the whole bag explodes. Candy goes all over including hittin' me in the head. So now I'm surrounded by little wrapped chocolates! Score for Reba! Ah shoot! No Reba, leave it Reba, stop Reba, Stay Reba, You gotta be kiddin' me! You explode your candy, and I don't even get one? I should! For one, I'm a good dog. 2, I did good guide work tonight. 3, you just nailed me with about 8 of them I should get one for that. Shoot. Well, no luck, maybe next time.

I forgot to post about the trip mom and I took around Christmas time. We went up to see my Kitty and grandma again. Cool! This time it was all different though. My Kitty and grandma each have their own places now. So no hangin' out in that old basement, getting' in to cat food and countless other things. Mom and I stayed with my Kitty. That Dose cat is gone too. Tigger told me she died. Man that's sad. I'm gunna miss pickin' on that cat. Shoot that was hilarious!

Grandma got this new dog though now. This little fluff mop of a thing named Brandy. Boy she a witch too. I went over to Grandma's place, and was just sniffin' around, all the sudden Brandy lays in to my face. Whatever I wasn't even gunna respond to that. I mean it wasn't even like that was the first time she and I met. Get over yourself. Shoot I could eat her for breakfast.

I got to play with Dekota again too. Think she's one of the few female dogs I can tolerate. I still can't believe how big she be though and she a lab too.

The funniest story from that trip, one morning mom took me out to relieve. We walked down the stairs, outside and down more stairs, as soon as mom hit the parking lot, she literally fell on her butt. It was a sheet of ice. I about fell over laughin' at her. It really was a quiet trip though. Usually we go visit there in the summer and we can get out more and do stuff. In the winter it's a little harder because of the snow. It's still one of my favorite places to go though.

A few weeks ago I got to see my puppy raisers again! That was awesome! They got a puppy they be raisin' now too. She a black lab too and her name is Jaylee. She was good too. But shoot I'd be good too if my ma was handin' out treats left and right. Come on my Sandy! Where's my treats! That was another shoppin' around a big mall day.

Well, I think I'll go now, there's a bunch of new snow outside for me to romp in. All our snow melted and then all came back again. Sweet! I just wish that golden was around to romp in it with me. Queen Frostene ain't as fun. All she do is run and jump at my face. Quit it! O man! Speakin' of jumpin' at my face! Shoot I don't know if it be an epidemic now with puppies, but our neighbor had a dog they was watchin' for a few days, Ok first of all y'all, this dog, at 5 months old was bigger than Winston. I mean he was just huge. So mom brings me over to meet him, and he kept tryin' to jump at my face and bite at my face! Hello! Rue! You better believe I put him in his place real quick. Annie does the same thing too. The good thing is though, she 10 pounds, not 65. Shoot! Ok y'all, behave, and I promise I'll not wait 3 months to post again.

Reba the dog.
